Local hairstylist helps young girls look and feel good for the first day of school

More than 60 girls got free back-to-school hairdos by Cassandra Smith of Bardstown Hair Salon.

"Beauty, Brains and Books" partners with Jefferson County Public Schools to help girls in need get their hair done before starting the new year.

Bows, ribbons, curls, Smith said she does whatever the girls want as long as their parents approve. "I want to give the kids that extra edge," said Smith. She hopes they go to school looking and feeling good, so they can do good.
