Dozens of children were sworn in as U.S. citizens on Wednesday, some while donning Halloween costumes during a ceremony in Fairfax, Va.
Some of the children were dressed in Halloween costumes and planned to go trick-or-treating following the ceremony, ABC News reported.
The 35 children who were sworn in as American citizens on Wednesday evening came from 22 different countries, including Afghanistan, China, Egypt, Iran, Ireland and the United Arab Emirates.
A video from ABC News of the ceremony showed the children reciting the Oath of Allegiance, which must be taken by immigrants seeking to become U.S. citizens.
The children were then called individually to receive certificates for their citizenship.
